After completing graduate studies in wood science at Clemson (Go Tigers!), Ekklektic was started by our founder in New England with the aim of creating elegant, well designed and cost-effective wood products. The shelf is custom made to hang accessories and has a number of special features. Unlike a typical mdf floating shelf, this shelf has an added wood layer along the length where the hooks are attached. This results in a very strong bond for the hooks. The shelf is deliberately kept somewhat light as the point of failure of a floating shelf is never the shelf itself but at the point of attachment to the wall. For this we have tested various anchors and we have included anchors manufactured by a German company that in our tests have provided the best support for the shelfs. We have also included the correct sized drill bit as it is important that the holes for the anchors are the correct size. Too large a hole will not create a strong bond with the wall. The hooks that are pre attached are custom designed, made of stainless steel, perfectly fit the tonal accessories and is consistently rated 5 stars. Our shelfs are also 9.5 inches wide which is a great size and larger than most other similar shelves in the market.
