In 1941, a joint US-British project led to specifications for three new armored cars. The T17E1 resulted in the Staghound, while the T18, developed by Yellow Truck & Coach in 1942, was a large, heavily armored eight-wheeler. Initially armed with a 37mm gun, the final T18E2 version featured a more powerful 57mm gun. Despite US Army disinterest, the British ordered 2500, naming them Boarhounds. High production costs halted delivery after 30. The Boarhound, designed to counter German eight-wheelers, boasted thicker armor and a heavier gun, making it highly effective.
