The CLAAS Jaguar 800 series debuted in 1993 with a limited pre-production run, becoming widely available in 1994. These forage harvesters boasted engines ranging from 228 kW (310 hp) to 354 kW (481 hp). Crosswise to the travel direction, simple direct-drive systems were installed behind the steering axle, ensuring optimal cooling and easy machine access. For grass silage harvesting, the CORN CRACKER could be rolled back and swapped with a grass shaft. This innovative setup set new trends in modern forage harvesters, enabling eight-row maize headers for the first time. The striking design and spacious, dual-seat cab with a curved windscreen and sloping roof instilled confidence. Central lubrication and an accelerator behind the CORN CRACKER for faster crop flow were also included.
