Luco Gold Size - We offer two high quality gold sizes from Luco. Luco Slow Set Gilder's Oil The Luco Slow Set Gold Size is a Gilder's Oil designed for all leaf work where extended tack time is allowed, greater brilliance is desired and a clear protective top coat is not necessary. Luco Slow Set Gilder's Oil will be ready for gilding in 10 to 12 hours, depending upon temperature and humidity. This tack will hold up to 24 hours. Luco Quick Dry Gold Size This size is a clear gilder's varnish designed for fast leaf work. it may also be used as a clear protective top coat over leaf, lettering and other decorative work. Where time permits use Luco Slow Set Gilder's Oil for greater brilliance. Luco Quick Dry Gold Size will be ready for gilding in 1 to 3 hours, depending upon temperature and humidity. Gilding tip...to determine if the size is ready for gilding, gently touch the size with the back of your knuckle. The skin on your knuckle should feel a nice steady pull when you take your knuckle away from the surface. If you have any residue on your skin it is too soon. If you do not feel a pull similar to removing masking tape from your skin, you waited too long and should re-apply the size. Please keep in mind that gilding is an art in itself and expect a lot of trial and error before you get it right.
