The difference between SteriKlon W and R liquids lies in their composition. W liquid consists solely of the active ingredient (chlorhexidine gluconate) and is a clear, colorless solution, denoted by 'W'. Conversely, R liquid contains a non-ionic surfactant (polyoxyethylene nonylphenyl ether) and red dye 2, and is marked with 'R'. The addition or absence of this surfactant differentiates their applications. W liquid can be used for 'conjunctival sac washing and disinfection (0.05% or less)' and 'dermal disinfection in obstetrics and urology (0.02%)', while R liquid does not have these specific uses. Other applications are similar for both.
